MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER (HYBRID IN PASADENA)

The Institute for Educational Advancement (IEA) is seeking a marketing and communications professional to work with and broaden our network of participants, alumni, parents, partners, donors, and gifted educators. This individual will also assist in expanding our outreach to include national media outlets and organizations working with a diverse gifted community.

The Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for strengthening IEA’s public image through email messaging and newsletters, online and print advertising, social media outlets, blog posts, web updates, press releases and other public relations efforts.

Job responsibilities include:

  •  Implementing marketing strategy and developing and executing marketing tactics, including segmenting messages to target audiences for both program enrollment and fundraising campaigns, to ensure IEA is reaching a diverse population of gifted students and their families

  • Managing all external communications, including creating content for e-newsletters, print and digital marketing materials, online articles, blogposts, and website updates

  • Designing and publishing images and graphics that resonate with the community IEA serves

  • Sourcing and submitting print and online advertising

  • Tracking, measuring, and reporting IEA’s web traffic and social media statistics

  • Maintaining IEA’s website, assisting with SEO maintenance and working to improve positioning

  • Nurturing and growing IEA’s existing social media communities, including regularly sourcing and posting relevant content on platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and blog, and investigating new social media platforms as they become available

  • Drafting and submitting press releases for IEA programs and policy initiatives

  • Working with the IEA staff to identify and coordinate exhibiting and speaking opportunities at local and national conferences, community events, and other outreach opportunities

The successful applicant will possess the following characteristics, skills, and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; BA in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or Marketing preferred

  • At least 4-5 years of previous work experience in marketing, communications, or public relations

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience managing social media platforms and performance metrics, including creating short video content

  • An eye for design, ability to create simple graphics and experience creating marketing materials; a focus on promoting programs and services for children is desirable

  • Experience working with WordPress (Elementor) to manage websites, basic HTML, SEO and traffic analytics

  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Engagement platform (Pardot) or other CRMs

  • Demonstrated success managing editorial calendars and tracking budgets

  • Comfort working with Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Photoshop, Publisher or other graphics programs

  • Proficient in Windows 10 OS, Microsoft Office Suite/O365.

  • Well-developed organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal and oral communications skills

  • Strong writing and proofreading skills

  • Understanding of nonprofit organizations a plus

  • A passion for and interest in gifted education

 
Salary: starting at $68,000.
