After much deliberation, and the unprecedented rapid progression of COVID-19, IEA has made the difficult decision to cancel our Summer 2020 EXPLORE program. This decision applies to all dates and mentor sites for EXPLORE. We are deeply sorry that the current health crisis is preventing us from holding this exemplary program. We have been in contact with our confirmed mentors and while they share our disappointment in the cancellation of 2020 many have already committed to the 2021 program year. For any questions regarding the EXPLORE program cancellation please email Program Manager Megan Figueroa at mfigueroa@educationaladvancement.org.

In order to be considered for the program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
Some sites require students to be of a minimum age or meet certain prerequisites; these requirements will be listed with the site description.
IEA utilizes our portfolio-based application to determine eligibility and to match qualified applicants with the most appropriate sites and mentors. Applicants will be required to submit the following:
“I have learned so much in depth knowledge about biology, colleges, and working in a lab. My high school could never offer me an experience like this in a classroom.”
– Alumnus 2018
“BEFORE I STARTED THE PROGRAM, I HAD NO PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE, SO I DIDN’T REALLY KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT […]WHILE THIS EXTERNSHIP WAS NO DOUBT CHALLENGING, IT DID HELP BOLSTER MY CONFIDENCE IN MY OWN ABILITIES […] THAT I DO HAVE THE PROPER SKILL SET TO SUCCEED WITHIN THIS INDUSTRY.”
