The Youth Awards was founded in 1998 by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation. Now entering its 23rd year, the Youth Awards honors Latino high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community and for their excellence in various categories including: Business & Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Education, Engineering, Healthcare & Science, Media & Entertainment, Public Service & Social Justice, Sports & Fitness, Sustainability and Technology.

As America’s foremost youth leadership organization, HOBY has a long and impressive history of successfully motivating youth and volunteers to outstanding leadership. HOBY programs are conducted annually throughout the United States, serving local and international high school students. HOBY programs provide students selected by their schools to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning, and motivation-building experiences.

Barbara Hettle is an independent college counselor, specializing in homeschool consulting. She assists homeschooled high school students with all aspects of the college application process such as essay coaching, preparing homeschool transcripts, academic planning, and much more. She has first-hand experience with the unique needs of homeschool students going through college admissions and hopes to be able to share her expertise with others.

As one of the nation’s largest need-based college scholarship programs in the country, the Horatio Alger Scholarship Programs specifically assist high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. While many programs are directed primarily to recognizing academic achievement or leadership potential, the Horatio Alger Association seeks students who have exhibited determination, integrity, and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as have critical financial need.

This summer, explore a top campus, make friends as you master new tech skills, and join a community of 275,000 iD Tech students and alumni who are organizing robotics clubs, starting companies, founding nonprofits, and landing jobs at tech powerhouses like Facebook and Google. For over 20 years, it has been their mission to empower the next generation of coders, app developers, game designers, engineers, and innovators.

IEA Academy is a program of the Institute for Educational Advancement which provides students in Kindergarten through 8th grade with advanced learning opportunities that promote exploration and application of knowledge. Classes are taught by content-area specialists and taught at a flexible pace to accommodate the learning needs of gifted and 2e students. Classes are small and grouped by ability rather than chronological age. IEA Academy sessions take place in Pasadena, California, and online, and are held seasonally: fall, spring, and summer (three sessions hosted each summer).

IEA’s EXPLORE (Externships Providing Leadership Opportunities for Research and Education) offers a unique opportunity for high-potential secondary students to gain real-world, hands-on experience in a field or subject of interest. Externs develop positive life-changing relationships with Mentors and a diverse cohort of other highly motivated and creative people. Externs perform advanced research, immerse themselves in challenging and intensive learning experience, and develop leadership, interpersonal, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.

The Institute for Educational Advancement has created a comprehensive Scholarships and Competitions Guide which provides a library of over 100 resources for students in grades K-12. The guide is indexed by topic to assist the gifted student in finding the most appropriate opportunity to suit their unique interests and talents. A handy compilation drawn from IEA’s Gifted Resource Center, this guide is a useful tool for students, parents, counselors and anyone working with gifted youth.

Illinois’ Tax Credit Scholarship Program is 100% need-based. K-12 students from low-income and working-class families are eligible to receive a tax credit scholarship through Empower Illinois.

Programs at the Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science (IMACS) are designed to expand your child’s mind through the development of critical thinking, logic and reasoning skills. IMACS offers after-school, weekend, summer, homeschool, and online courses

For nearly two decades, students from around the world have competed in the Imagine Cup, Microsoft’s global technology competition just for students, for the chance to win mentorship, networking opportunities, free travel, cash, and other prizes, not to mention the coveted trophy. But the Imagine Cup is more than just a tech competition. It’s a chance to work with friends, gain new skills, and meet other students who want to make a difference.

The Independent School Alliance for Minority Affairs (The Alliance) is a leading access organization in independent school admissions counseling and placement for students in grades K-9. The Alliance recruits, educates, counsels, and advocates on behalf of families of color seeking to gain access to independent schools of Greater Los Angeles. Working in partnership with families and schools, the Independent School Alliance helps students of color access an independent school education and supports and guides the family after a student is enrolled in a school.

INROADS College Links is the pre-college component of the INROADS Internship experience. The program addresses the need to prepare and strengthen the pipeline of underserved talent from high school and throughout the career lifecycle. Their goal is to motivate and prepare academically high-performing students for a holistic college and career experience. College Links gives underserved students needed access to career immersion activities and goal planning, while improving educational outcomes for those interested in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and business careers.
The INROADS College Links program:

  • Provides opportunities in business and STEAM careers, and direction regarding specific academic requirements for various careers.
  • Supports participants in their transition from high school to college.
  • Serves as a gateway to the INROADS College Program
  • Northern Kentucky University’s Institute for Talent Development and Gifted Studies serves high potential and gifted youth, their parents, and educators.  Formally established in 2008, the Institute focuses on their mission of being a comprehensive and valued source for gifted and high potential youth, their parents, and educators in the regional community.  The Institute has a reputation for excellence in providing educational opportunities for students, developing innovative curriculum, providing quality professional development for parents and educators, and conducting rigorous research. In addition to their services, the Institute maintains collaborative, meaningful partnerships with businesses, community agencies, and educational institutions in support of high potential and gifted youth.

    The primary goal of the IBB is to motivate students to learn about the brain and to inspire them to pursue careers in neuroscience so they can help treat and find cures for brain disorders.

    International CyberFair is an award-winning, authentic learning program used by schools and youth organizations around the world. Students conduct research about their local communities and use digital media to publish their findings online. Recognition is given to the best projects in each of eight categories: local leaders, businesses, community organizations, historical landmarks, environment, music, art, and local specialties.
