Frequently Asked Questions

Donations

Not really! While originally walk-a-thons were pledge-based per lap, today we focus on flat donations made before the event.

Peer-to-peer fundraising can help raise both awareness and funds, so it is encouraged but not required.

The walk itself, whether in-person in Pasadena or in your location in your home city, is a celebration of our IEA’s community’s impact locally and around the globe.

Yes! Donations to IEA are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. IEA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and our tax ID is #95-469569.

Funds raised support IEA’s programs and gifted support services. Half of all Trek for Talented Youth donations will go directly to financial aid.

Ask anyone who supports educationfriends, relatives, neighbors, co-workers. Use email, social media, or even create a video to tell your story.

Credit card companies and banks charge businesses including nonprofit organizations processing fees to facilitate electronic transactions. Fees vary based on payment type.

As a donor, you can choose to cover these processing fees so that more of your donation will go to nonprofits like IEA to support their mission.

Givebutter is a free donation platform for nonprofit organizations. It is offered for free thanks to the 100% optional tips they receive from donors. Read more about Givebutter’s optional tips policy here.
