Created in 1977 by Dr. George Lenchner, an internationally known math educator, the Math Olympiads went public in 1979. 170,000 students in over 35 countries on 6 continents participated in 2019-2020. The Math Olympiads are math problem solving contests for teams of up to 35 students in grades 4 through 8. It is open only to schools, home schools, and institutes. Not open to individuals.
